What file formats are supported?
EPUB, PDF, and TXT files. You can also read web articles, fanfics, and blog posts directly using the built-in browser.
How does the free trial work?
You get 1 hour of premium cloud voices free. Device voices are always free with no limits. After the cloud trial, subscribe for unlimited premium listening at $2.99/month or $17.99/year.
How is my free hour calculated?
Usage time is based on actual audio playback duration. Only the real-time length of audio playing counts toward your hour. Pausing, buffering, or reading without text-to-speech doesn't count.
Can I change voices?
Yes! Tap the settings icon while reading to choose between Cloud voices (20+ premium AI voices) or Device voices (your iPhone's built-in voices). You can preview each voice before selecting.
Does it work offline?
Reading always works offline. Device TTS works fully offline using your iPhone's built-in voices. Cloud TTS requires an internet connection since audio is generated by our servers.
What's the difference between Cloud and Device voices?
Cloud voices are premium AI voices with natural, immersive quality — they require internet and count toward your free hour (or subscription). Device voices use your iPhone's built-in text-to-speech — they're completely free, unlimited, work offline, and support dozens of languages. You can switch between them anytime in speech settings.
How do I get more device voices?
Go to your iPhone's Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content/Read & Speak → Voices. There you can download enhanced and premium quality voices for free. They'll automatically appear in Narratorr's voice picker.
How do I read web articles?
Tap the globe icon to open the built-in browser. Navigate to any article, fanfic, or blog post, then tap the "Read" button to open it in reader mode. You can also save the link to your library for later.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Find Narratorr and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
Audio not playing?
For cloud voices, check your internet connection. For all voices, make sure your device isn't on silent mode. Try closing and reopening the app. If using device voices, try switching to a different voice. If the issue persists, please email us.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your documents stay on your device. Text sent for speech synthesis is processed in real-time and immediately discarded — we never store it. We never train AI on your content. You can request deletion of server-side data by emailing us. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is there a daily usage limit?
Subscribers can listen up to 24 hours per day under our fair use policy. This prevents automated abuse while ensuring normal listening is never interrupted.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID to request a refund.
